CfR BOT Summer Meeting

 In Blog

Before we bid farewell to the sunniest of days, read about the Annual Summer Casting for Recovery Board of Trustees meeting in Jackson Hole, WY July 15 – 17, 2017. Executive Director, Whitney Milhoan, provides all the deets of what went down. Read more below.

CfR’s Board of Trustees is made up of 13 individuals with diverse personal and professional backgrounds, from psychology to oncology. All board members are volunteers, and each pays his/her own way to and from board meetings. Our board includes financial professionals, non profit execs, lawyers, medical professionals, marketing experts and business professionals. Together, they are tasked with organization oversight, strategic planning, and direct oversight of the executive director (eek!).

Our board is an incredibly talented and passionate group of volunteers. Each board member serves on at least two of our standing committees: Financial Development, Board Development, Strategic Planning, Legal/Risk, Personnel, International Programs, and Audit/Finance. All board members give financially as well, and contribute a great deal toward our national budget goals.

The Summer Annual meeting in July was a busy one. The agenda included approval of our Q2 financials, approval of our 2016 Financial Audit report drafts, and a special session on Planned Giving. The board also heard field updates from the national staff on program and marketing initiatives. They enjoyed a report on our retreat season to date, and applauded the hard work being done by our volunteers. They reviewed retreat evaluations to date, and approved a program re-launch for Alaska.

This year, in conjunction with the board meeting, the board decided to host a “meet and greet” fundraiser in Jackson Hole. We invited a few key contacts in the WY area, as well as some prospective supporters and volunteers. It was wonderful for CfR family members and prospective supporters to be able to meet and get to know our board members in a relaxed atmosphere. For the fundraiser, the board pledged $10,000, which was matched on the spot at the event by a WY donor. Pretty amazing!

The board will be busy working in their committee groups until the next quarterly meeting. You can read full board bios HERE.

Huge shout out to our amazing Board of Trustees!

– Whitney
