Meet Ian & Judy
Meet Ian and Judy, two longtime members of the Casting for Recovery family! Ian Davis is the co-owner and saltwater program director of Yellow Dog Flyfishing in our home base, Bozeman, Montana. Judy is a pink, RO drift boat and unofficial mascot of CfR. Their journeys to CfR happened together and that story is one we are excited to share.
Seven or eight years ago, Ian was looking for a non-profit partner for Judy. Judy is named for his late mother, Judy Rulon-Miller, who passed away from breast cancer in 1994. Judy’s mission is simple, to be a craft for licensed fishing guides to use with the caveat that they must leave a donation in the cash box her originators (RO, Yellow Dog Flyfishing, Patagonia River Guides and Fay Ranches) fashioned under one of her seats. Those donations then support non-profit breast cancer work.
In her lifetime, Judy has raised over $15,000 for charity, adventured all over the United States and often makes appearances at events and women’s fly fishing clinics. She is a bit of a celebrity and even has her own Facebook page under the handle The Pink Boat! Casting for Recovery is grateful to Ian for sharing a special gift like Judy with our community. If you would like to meet her in-person, she will be parked at CfR’s Drift Boat Drive-In event on Thursday, July 13 in Manhattan, Montana.
