Closing out the 25th Retreat Season
As we prepare to release the 25th Casting for Recovery season, with our last 4 retreats happening this weekend, we want to take a look back on the 36 retreats held nationwide that served over 450 women. Below, find some participant testimonials and images from the 2021 retreat season. Here at Casting for Recovery can say so much, but testimonials from our participants who experience the power of nature, well, their words speak louder than ours:
What participants are saying:
“It was clear to me that this program was prepared thoughtfully, catering to the collective and individual needs of the participants. I cannot emphasize enough the caring and love provided by each volunteer toward all participants.”
“I most enjoyed the time spent on the water fishing with my amazing river guide. I also enjoyed the lessons on tying knots and casting, as we needed that in order to be prepared for the real thing. The meals were amazing. Not just the food, but so many wonderful conversations took place.”
“I get to see others like me who want to learn more about dealing with cancer. I don’t feel alone and don’t have to explain my feelings.”
“Not thinking about anything else was amazing. My brain is usually going non stop and I am a very competitive individual. It made my heart so happy hearing the yells and happy screams from my friends as they caught their fish. I caught some too and that sure added to the experience but I think I would have been just as happy casting my line all day.”
“I love nature and am an avid hiker. I have never fished and did not think I would have the patience for it but I was surprised at how much I enjoyed it. Learning a new skill was invigorating and the joy of actually catching a fish was unexpected. I am looking forward to doing more fishing with my husband and hopefully with some of the new friends I made at the retreat.”
