Casting for Recovery Receives Grant Funding From the Bass Pro Shops and Cabela’s Outdoor Fund Connecting Women with Breast Cancer to the Outdoors
Bozeman, MT August 16, 2019 — Casting for Recovery® (CfR), a national nonprofit organization providing no-cost fly fishing retreats for women with breast cancer, announces it has received a grant from the Bass Pro Shops and Cabela’s Outdoor Fund to help sustain CfR’s current programming nationwide and raise awareness about the power of healing that comes from spending time in nature.
“Breast cancer impacts real women – our friends, neighbors and sisters. It doesn’t care about age, income, or skin color,” says Executive Director, Whitney Milhoan. “We recognize that many women don’t have access or understand the power of getting outside, and we’re so grateful to the Bass Pro Shops and Cabela’s Outdoor Fund for standing behind our efforts to provide healing outdoor experiences for women with breast cancer.”
Bass Pro Shops and Cabela’s are working to inspire everyone to enjoy, love and conserve the great outdoors. Guided by the visionary leadership of founder Johnny Morris, the Outdoor Fund empowers Bass Pro and Cabela’s 200 million annual customers to support key conservation and community efforts by rounding up their purchases. Rallying passionate customers alongside dedicated team members, industry partners and leading conservation organizations, Bass Pro is creating North America’s largest conservation movement to collectively shape the future of the outdoors and all who love it for generations to come.
Casting for Recovery® (CfR) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit founded in 1996 featuring a unique program that combines breast cancer education and peer support with the therapeutic sport of fly fishing. Their retreats offer opportunities for women to find inspiration, discover renewed energy for life and experience healing connections with other women and nature. CfR’s retreats are open to women with breast cancer of all ages, all stages of treatment or recovery at no cost to the participants.
