Both wild salmon and killer whales are almost to the point of extinction. Washington’s Orca Task Force is implementing a “feed the orcas” plan using millions of hatchery salmon each year to keep orcas fed. Science-based research shows orcas need both larger and wild salmon. Adding more hatchery fish to watersheds to help feed orcas will further weaken the already depleting wild-salmon gene pool.
