CfR Included in USA Today’s List of Where to Give for Breast Cancer Awareness Month

Austin, TX—October 30, 2017— Casting for Recovery (CfR) is honored to be named by USA Today as a recommended nonprofit for giving during Breast Cancer Awareness month.  With a large number of charities focused on the fight against breast cancer, it’s hard to know which organizations to support. When considering making a donation, research is recommended. CfR works hard to maintain exemplary ratings with charity watchdog organizations.  Check us out on Charity Navigator here.

Below is an expert from the USA Today October 2, 2017, article, read the full story here.

Breast cancer is the most common cancer among women and is the second leading cause of cancer deaths among women, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention

One way to help fight this devastating disease is to contribute to charities that focus on the research, prevention and treatment of breast cancer. But with the large number of organizations with similar names devoted to the cause, how do you know which ones are the best?

The first thing you should do when considering donating is to check with charity watchdog groups that evaluate how well each organization spends the money it receives from contributors.

Two of the biggest charity watchdogs are Charity Watch and Charity Navigator. Both groups evaluate thousands of charities and non-profit organizations by looking at financial statements, tax reports, program expenses and fundraising costs.

The mission of Casting for Recovery® (CfR) is to enhance the quality of life of women with breast cancer through a unique retreat program that combines breast cancer education and peer support with the therapeutic sport of fly fishing. The program offers opportunities for women to find inspiration, discover renewed energy for life and experience healing connections with other women and nature. CfR serves breast cancer survivors of all ages, in all stages of treatment and recovery, at no cost to participants.
