BOZEMAN, MONTANA —Casting for Recovery (CfR), the first non-profit to provide a
combination of counseling, support, education through a free 2.5-day fly fishing retreat program
for women with breast cancer, is proud to share that they are a recent recipient of a $100,000
grant from longtime, national sponsor Bass Pro Shops and Cabela’s Outdoor Fund.
Casting for Recovery has been the beneficiary of this exciting partnership with Bass Pro Shops
and Cabela’s Outdoor Fund for ten years. Under the inspired leadership of Johnny Morris, The
Outdoor Fund has prioritized support for national efforts that focus on Conserving Wildlife and
Habitat; Connecting New Audiences to the Outdoors; Advocating for Access and Sportsmen’s
Rights; and Supporting Military and Veterans.
“With crucial support from organizations like the Outdoor Fund, our life-changing program has
introduced over 11,500 women to a new, accessible outdoor activity – fly fishing.” Susan Gaetz,
Casting for Recovery Executive Director. “We are excited to continue building on our
partnership at both a national level and with individual stores throughout the Bass Pro Shops
and Cabela’s network.”
CfR’s unique program provides an opportunity for over 800 women every year to experience an
authentic connection to the outdoors through the accessible medium of fly fishing. Women also
have the opportunity to learn about fish habitat, tie flies, fish with an experienced angler, and
receive education and information about conservation issues that allow them to truly engage as
an active member of the outdoor community moving forward.
