Each year, Casting for Recovery introduces hundreds of women in treatment or recovery to the transformative experience of fly fishing. That time outside—surrounded by nature, supported by others—creates space for healing, reflection, and connection.
The Judy Project takes that mission a step further. Created to honor the women we love, the women we’ve lost, and the community that carries them forward, this boat was built to hold stories, spark joy, and navigate new waters for those who need it most

How it started - the legacy of Judy
After losing his mom, Judy, to breast cancer, Ian Davis wanted to create something lasting in her memory—something that reflected her love of the outdoors and her joyful spirit on the water. As a longtime supporter of Casting for Recovery and co-founder of Yellow Dog Flyfishing Adventures, Ian knew just where to channel that love. What began as a personal tribute became a symbol of healing for others: a pink drift boat that would go on to inspire, raise funds, and bring women together across rivers nationwide.

The mission of Casting for Recovery (CfR) is to empower women in treatment or recovery from breast cancer, through oncology-informed retreats that connect women to each other and nature using the therapeutic sport of fly fishing—all at no cost to the participants.
