The Jane Project is more than a boat — it’s an invitation to be part of something meaningful.

Brought to life by a community that believes in healing on the water, Jane was created to honor women and their stories. Each engraved tribute added to her becomes a visible testament of love, remembrance, and resilience.

As Jane travels, she will carry these stories with her — appearing in our short film, and at events across the country. Your support ensures more women with breast cancer experience connection, healing, and hope.

The Jane Project apparel is more than just gear — it’s a symbol of connection, strength, and healing on and off the water. Every purchase helps fund Casting for Recovery retreats for women facing breast cancer, ensuring more women can find hope, community, and renewal in the rivers that heal us all.

The Film – Coming Winter 2026

The Jane Project film follows Kara Armano as she returns to the water to reflect on her own breast cancer journey and the connections forged through fly fishing. Along the way, she meets two women whose stories echo the strength, loss, love, and healing held in the current. The film is a tribute to the power of nature and the legacy of the pink boat that carries their tributes.

How it started - the legacy of original boat, Judy

A group of friends, each touched by breast cancer through their mothers, came together with a shared vision: to create something lasting that reflected their mothers’ love of the outdoors and joyful spirit on the water. They knew just where to channel that love. What began as a collective tribute became so much more—a pink drift boat that grew into a symbol of healing, resilience, and community. That boat has since inspired, raised funds, and brought women together across rivers nationwide.

Design with Heart: Artist Blakeley Dunn

The Jane was brought to life not just through engineering and craftsmanship—but through art.

The boat’s one-of-a-kind design was created by Blakeley Dunn, an artist known for her nature-inspired illustration that celebrates rivers, resilience, and connection. Blakeley’s thoughtful design weaves together the spirit of Jane, the strength of the women we serve, and the beauty of the water that carries them.

The mission of Casting for Recovery (CfR) is to empower women in treatment or recovery from breast cancer, through oncology-informed retreats that connect women to each other and nature using the therapeutic sport of fly fishing—all at no cost to the participants.
