Help us fill a critical gap in breast cancer care

Founded by two trailblazing women, a breast surgeon and a fly fishing guide, Casting for Recovery delivers oncology-informed fly fishing retreats for women with breast cancer at no cost to participants. With 30 years of experience, more than 1,800 trained volunteers, and 60 retreats each year, CfR has empowered nearly 13,000 women since 1996. The results are clear and lasting. Women report reduced anxiety, increased support, and a meaningful shift in their healing. One hundred percent of participants recommend the program.

As we enter our thirtieth year, the need continues to grow. CfR fills a critical gap that traditional healthcare cannot โ€” providing connection, community, and emotional healing at one of the hardest moments in a womanโ€™s life. This is a moment for leadership. Your support as an Impact Leader ensures more women can access this life-changing experience and helps CfR meet the rising need nationwide.

Impact Leaders are generous donors who make annual gifts of $5,000 or more to sustain free retreats, expand access for underserved women, and help shape the next 30 years of healing on the water. Your support as an Impact Leader ensures more women can access this life-changing experience and helps CfR meet the rising need nationwide.

CfR is passionate about serving all women navigating breast cancer, including the following priority populations:

Women with Metastatic (Stage IV) Breast Cancer

The Need: 30% of early-stage breast cancer becomes metastatic

CfR Goal: Expand the number of metastatic retreats to reach more women facing limited time and fewer support options

Young Women (Under 50)

The Need: CfRโ€™s fastest-growing applicant group, balancing cancer with careers and parenting

CfR Goal: Increase access to community and resources tailored to the real-life needs of younger women with breast cancer

Women of Color &
Underserved Communities

The Need: Black women are more likely to die from breast cancer than any other racial group. Rural women and Native women have reduced access to high-quality care and screenings, leading to poorer outcomes

CfR Goal: Support inclusive, accessible programming and outreach that closes gaps in care and builds trust in overlooked communities

Military Women

The Need: Higher breast cancer risk due to toxic exposures; delayed screenings lead to poorer outcomes

CfR Goal: Expand reach, and specialized programming for military women underserved by traditional care systems
