Ross Reels Launches Limited Edition Cimarron Reel to Support Casting for Recovery

Montrose, Colorado (November 20, 2024) — Ross Reels is proud to introduce the limited edition Casting for Recovery x Cimarron Reel, a tribute to the strength and resilience of women navigating a breast cancer diagnosis. Handcrafted in the USA, this precision-engineered 5/6 weight reel is a powerful symbol of healing and hope. With each reel sold, $50 will be donated to Casting for Recovery, a nonprofit that introduces women with breast cancer to fly fishing through free, nature-based wellness retreats.

Casting for Recovery’s retreats introduce over 800 women each year to the therapeutic sport of fly fishing, offering a powerful way for participants to connect with nature, build resilience, and find support. Each retreat provides women in treatment or recovery from breast cancer with a unique blend of oncology and emotional support in a serene outdoor environment. For many participants, fly fishing offers a first-time experience of physical and mental empowerment as they learn new skills alongside others who share their journey.

“Ross’ partnership enables us to reach more women each year, giving them a meaningful introduction to fly fishing as a tool for wellness, resilience, and joy,” shared Susan Gaetz, Executive Director of Casting for Recovery. “Each reel sold will directly support our ability to provide these transformative experiences, and we’re grateful for the support from Ross and the fly fishing community.”

The Limited Edition Cimarron Reel design features a beautifully engraved rainbow trout gliding across topographical lines, symbolizing life’s ups and downs. Crafted with a durable ceramic coating, the reel serves as a reminder of strength and perseverance—qualities embodied by women with breast cancer.

“This collaboration is deeply personal to the Ross Reels family, reflecting the impactful work Casting for Recovery has done for women, families, friends, and the fly fishing community affected by breast cancer,” said Jeff Wagner, CEO of Ross Reels. “The Cimarron Reel is our way of honoring the women in our lives and inviting anglers to join us in supporting this incredible cause.”

The reel’s artwork, created by Colorado-based artist and angler Piper Nunn, highlights the natural beauty of the trout and its environment, resonating with Casting for Recovery’s belief in the healing power of nature. Nunn, a longtime supporter of Casting for Recovery, designed this reel to reflect the journey of resilience shared by so many. The drag knob features the Casting for Recovery fly logo in an anodized pink finish, precisely laser-cut through the white ceramic-coated knob to highlight the details of the fly pattern—a new, innovative process unique to Ross Reels.

The Limited Edition Cimarron Reel, with an MSRP of $400, is now available for purchase in a 5/6 weight size on the Ross website and at select retailers, with a portion of proceeds supporting Casting for Recovery’s life-changing retreats.
