Casting for Recovery Vermont and New Hampshire is part of the Casting for Recovery national program. We offer no-cost weekend fly-fishing retreats to breast cancer survivors of all ages and in all stages of treatment and recovery. CfR is a national non-profit support and educational organization for breast cancer survivors that combines counseling, medical information and instruction in fly fishing to help women improve their quality of life after a breast cancer diagnosis.
Casting for Recovery is proud to have its roots in the state of Vermont, where it began as a grassroots organization in 1996.
Annual Fly Fishing NH Show A few members of our retreat team represented the VT/NH CfR retreat at the Annual Fly Fish NH Show in Manchester, NH. It was a busy day and we were able to meet many people who are familiar with our retreat program and also many who had not heard about us! We were fortunate to be able to raffle off a box of beautiful trout flies and a half day guided fishing trip with Gerry Crow from NH Rivers Guide.
Leunig’s Bistro – Spring weather and the President’s Day weekend resulted in line-ups out the door from brunch through dinner at the 2017 Casting for Recovery Day at Leunig’s in Burlington, VT. Nine CfR volunteers worked the dining rooms throughout the day – spreading the word and selling raffle tickets. With Leunig’s donating 10% of all sales for the day, just over $2700 was raised – enough to send almost 3 women to our 2017 retreat. A huge thanks to Leunig’s and the great staff.
