CFR Maine

Casting for Recovery-Maine's retreat is held at a different sporting camp each year, and often the adventure of spending a weekend deep in the Maine woods is one of the most exciting aspects to many of the participants. There is one retreat for 14 women every year.

Program Coordinator Bonnie Holding has been a registered Master Maine Guide of sports trout and salmon fishing for 25 years and she says, "Guiding led me to working with a great program called Casting for Recovery." Bonnie has been organizing the annual Casting for Recovery retreat in Maine for 13 years.

2012's retreat was held at beautiful Bald Mountain Camps on Mooselookmeguntic Lake and the participants had the opportunity to fish the Rangeley River. The casting motion does so much more than bring that fly to your fish, it helps with soft tissue recovery. Whether participants come for the fly fishing or for the adventure, one thing is certain: they all had the opportunity to enjoy themselves, their fellow participants, the retreat staff, the beauty of the Maine outdoors, and the opportunity to heal both physically and emotionally. It’s definitely all about fishing and not at all about the fishing!

King & Bartlett, Eustis, ME, apply by 5/10/13

Renowned for exceptional service and hospitality King & Bartlett was chosen by Orvis as runner up Lodge of the Year in 2000.

The Main Lodge with its beautiful stone fireplace is a perfect spot to socialize or sit quietly and enjoy a good book or a spectacular sunrise. The view of King and Bartlett Lake is breathtaking and it is not uncommon to watch someone catch a trout right off the dock.

Thank you to Bald Mountain Camps for sponsoring 2012's amazing retreat and feeding us incredible food! 14 delighted participants caught fish, became experts at roll casting, and made some great memories on the beautiful Mooselookmeguntic Lake and Rangeley River. It was a pleasure to meet this year's mountain princesses.

Fish Tales and Cocktails
A fundraiser for Maine's Annual Casting for Recovery Retreat this event was held at the Sugarloaf Mountain Hotel located in Carrabassett Valley, Maine, in January 2012 with a social hour, silent auction, and a raffle table. Some of the items donated this year were pink ice fishing traps, a 4-pc., 5-wt rod with sock and  tube, a reel loaded with Teeny pink line( lavender running line and backing), and a L.L.Bean fishing vest with a CFR logo. What lady wouldn't want it?  Thank you for all of the donations we received at the 2012 fundraiser and thank you to all of our bidders ... without you, this event would not happen.
